A small Mikoshi (portable shrine) will go around the town

The usual Mikoshi (portable shrines) parade is not held this year, but a small portable shrine carrying the spirit of the deity will go around the town.

Reisai (the annual ceremony) will start at 9:00am on the 4th, and Hatsugyoshiki, the ceremony for departure of Mikoshi will be held after Reisai, then the portable shrine will leave the shrine around 9:30am.

It will take about 4 hours to go through the town and the Mikoshi is planned to return to the shrine around 1:00 pm.

Mikoshi parade is a Shinto ritual originally intended to allow the deity to see the town.

This is not a usual parade, but we would like many people to have a chance to see the deity.

You don’t need to go out to welcome, but we would be glad if you would show your gratitude with your palms together to greet the deity.
