Somiya Kazufumi is a Shinto priest of Miwa shrine in Ibigawa-town. He says, “Shrines are local people’s peace of mind and must be a place where people gather. I would like you to come to worship with a sense of awe for the deity in your heart.” Last year, he built a statue of “Sawari-Daikoku(Touching Daikoku)” and a stone sculpture of “Nade-Usagi (Patting Rabbit)” imitating the enshrined deity. He hopes that visitors can feel the virtue of the deity by touching them. Born and raised in this town, he has a strong feeling for the local community. He says, “Our enshrined deity Daikoku is worshiped as a god of matchmaking. Matchmaking means not only for marriage between man and woman, but also connection between person and person. I hope the connection among local people get stronger and which contributes to vitalize the community.
