The annual celebration is held to let the deity know the festival will start, and to appreciate for peace and pray for further prosperity in the community.
There are 3 gorgeous large mikoshi, a middle-sized and small shrines carried by junior high school students. These shrines are going around and through the town.
These mikoshi are carried by strong brave men who shake them wildly waving the shrine to increase its divine power; thus praying for a good harvest. The rampage of portable shrines is spectacular and spectators enjoy it a lot.
This event is conducted to remove the sins and the impurities accumulated in the six months, and to cleanse our mind and body to pass rest of 6 months including the hot summer.
