We set up Chinowa (a hoop made of kaya grass) to pray for our good health.
Chinowa is usually set up for Nagoshi no Oharae (summer purification ceremony) on June 29 and 30.
This event is conducted to remove the sins and the impurities accumulated in the six months, and to cleanse our mind and body to pass rest of 6 months including the hot summer in good health.
We pass Chinowa with singing a song, ‘They say that those who perform Nagoshi no harai in June can live longer than their 1,000-year lifespan.’
It is different from normal time, but the Chinowa is set up to avoid COVID-19 and keep in good health. Please come and pass the Chinowa. We pray for all in good health.
